The Battles of Lexington and Concord

"The Shot Heard Around the World"
April 19, 1775

April 19, 1775 was the day the Battles of Lexington and Concord took place, the first major military campaign of the American Revolutionary War. The fighting began around 5:30 a.m. and took place over 16 miles from Boston to Concord. The battles are known as the "shot heard round the world" and marked the start of the American War of Independence.
