Yorktown Day commemoration ceremony at the Yorktown Victory MonumentYorktown Day commemorates the surrender of Lord Cornwallis' British and German troops at Yorktown, Virginia, to General George Washington's Allied American and French troops on October 19, 1781.

Commemoration Details

  • When: Held annually in on or near 19 October
  • Where: near the Yorktown Victory Monument erected in Colonial National Historical Park (see photo here)
  • Host chapter(s): Williamsburg Chapter SAR
  • Color Guard: Participation in the color guard is a qualifying event for the Virginia SAR Color Guard Medal (Billy Flora Medal).
