Yorktown Day commemorates the surrender of Lord Cornwallis' British and German troops at Yorktown, Virginia, to General George Washington's Allied American and French troops on October 19, 1781.
Commemoration Details
- When: Held annually in on or near 19 October
- Where: near the Yorktown Victory Monument erected in Colonial National Historical Park (see photo here)
- Host chapter(s): Williamsburg Chapter SAR
- Color Guard: Participation in the color guard is a qualifying event for the Virginia SAR Color Guard Medal (Billy Flora Medal).
