Forgotten shipyard of the Revolution

Please join the Richmond SAR in dedicating a historic marker commemorating the site of the Berkeley shipyard.

Few are aware that Berkeley Plantation was the site of the first successful shipyard on the James. It remained active through the American Revolution and contributed 18 warships to the Patriot cause. 

Home of Founding Father and signer of the Declaration of Independence Benjamin Harrison V, Berkeley was a hub of the struggle for liberty. 

SAR, DAR, CAR and other historic organization members participating in the event and a guest are admitted free to the event. Additional guests will pay the normal admission fee.
